wagamama

wagamama, a noodle restaurant in UK. I always order number 43 (amai udon)

no worries people, the one above is ok for us to eat. just dont order the chicken ones, and i think the salmon ramen is unfortunately, not EATable (if there is such a word). reason? its uses a chicken/pork based soup.

ok, quick review before i go to sleep. this food... is DELICIOUS! with a bit of wagamama's chilli oil, and crushed nuts on top of the thick udon noodles, this food is simply tasty!

the only bad thing is that only a few prawns were added in (aww)... and EXPENSIVE (7.25? pounds each)

quick tip: check out wagamama online for promo vouchers. if your lucky, the 2for1 are there, so grab a friend, and split the bill between you

quick tip2: DONT order any drinks EXCEPT green tea. why? with the main meal you ordered, you get UNLIMITED free flow of green tea. if tea is not in your bag, just order tap water (I ASSUMED you are a student on a budget living in UK but wanting to taste good quality food).

quick tip3: order #42 (forgotten the name). recommended by my friend. equally delicious BUT WAIT! it contain chicken! oh noes!....

... actually, what my friend did is to order #42 BUT politely ask for NO chicken. They will gladly do it. add a bit of chilli oil and NOM NOM NOM!

so, Wagamama's #43: 4.5/5
#42: 4/5 (without chicken)

ps: Wagamama can mean 'SELFISH' in japanese ^^

bruhall's food

FYI! My N95 went back to Brunei (AGAIN) to get its camera function well. Curses you wywy. SO, the following pics were using my friend's nokia i-have-no-absolute-idea-which-series and thus the lower picture quality

During my stay at Bruhall, london, here are the foods that i ate:

Breakfast 80pence:
Murtabak kosong (roti kosong for the malaysians)

average tasting food and hey, at least i get to eat a bruneian favourite (which I REALLY MISSED A LOT even since coming to UK)
oh yeah, there is also juices and milk ^^

Breakfast (also 80 pence):
english breakfast? + toast and kaya spread =D

just a simple meal (but the chips is below average, a 2/5) and i get to eat a kaya-spread toast! yummy!

Lunch (1.40 pounds):

Rice+veges+1 piece fried chicken+grapes

ugh... this food only focuses more on the quantity instead of quality

Basically the prices of the food are affordable in bruhall BUT don't expect much on the quality. Hey at least you can get to eat some malay (and repeatitive i heard) food

Added note: i heard the nasi lemak is a hit whenever its served during breakfast. unfortunately i havent had the pleasure to taste it yet

FOODIE UPDATE3! HOMAIGAT! WHAT IS THAT???

this is the part where you say

"HOMAIGAT! WHAT IS THAT???"
"APAKAN TU???"
"NANI O KORE"

feel free to express your "shockness" in the blog

That, family, relatives, friends, lurker, visitor, mr.alien, mr.anderson, pikachu...

is my PATHETIC ATTEMPT to cook an omellette with clams as its uhh... stuffing in the centre.

YES YES, I FAILED in cooking. uwaaaaaaa. And you know what... there is also the taste of BURNT egg on some of the underside of it... ugh... not good to taste...

my review... a 0/5

sure thing john west is there, to satisfy my taste bud

ps: Dont forget to read the previous 2 post XD

FOODIE UPDATE2! Curried lentil soup!

Lunch at my nearby place (the Sainsbury garden, near the Constable Terrace, UEA, Norwich) and I ordered this soup for 1.20 pounds

You know what? It reminds me of the cacah matabak, or izzit nasi briyani di brunei. Hehehe. Not bad the soup though, only... I feel like something is missing... Like, if it had a complementary food to go with it (which is obviously matabak or bread), this soup will be more satisfying

next time, I shall bring along bread (or takeaway), eat as a cacah, and makan style matabak XD)

I gave it 3.5/5

FOODIE UPDATE 1! Roast Turkey Review at UEA, Norwich

Three massive update today, and its all about FOOD FOOD FOOD! XD

FIRST UP! I had a HALAL roast beef during lunch (as usual, I ordered the 4.50pounds one, because for 50pence extra, u get desert/salad and a cup of coke!)

CLICKY THEM PICS!

Ah... it feels good taking good pics using my "thrusty"... oops, I mean my trusty N95.

My review? Ugh, stuffing overload. As usual, the meat to veges ratio is unfair (i want more meat! less veges!) and the taste? still an average 3/5... If only the turkey meat is thicker, juicier AND the gravy more...err.. gravy-er XD

the desert!

doh! I forgot the name of this desert. But its definately chocolate. I have taste better deserts than this though, as this one also average in taste (mebbe I should just pack the salad, and eat it at home)

*note: haven't tried the salad though, so next time.

Ah yes the combo meal!

Hehehehe, sorry dudes, forgotten to take the BEFORE picture XD

Roast Beef @the zest, UEA, norwich

Yup, its the offered HALAL roast beef, sold by 'the zest' at my university of east anglia, norwich. For that you got two slices of roast beef, vegetables (see the leafy thingy and carrots?) and potatoes.

Mind you, its great to have meat once in a while (because in norwich, its hard to find meat that is halal) BUT don't expect it to be cheap. It will cost you 4 pounds! yeah...

Glance to the non-halal one... its obvious theirs is a bit thicker...

The taste? Quite nice to eat, but i wish the meat to vege ratio is more to the meat side...

OR offer it at a lower price (like 2 pounds) without the vege

because for me, its a bit too much... yeah in UK, everything is bigger in portion. Even the burgers are bigger!

my rating: 3.5/5 because i tasted better before this [but in brunei :( ]

Ps: i heard the turkey is more delicious, but last time they serve chicken curry (yes halal also), so im still waiting for it

extra note: only sold at night, on certain days.

At yosushi again

Forgot the name of the cake, but IT IS HEAVENLY!

the one thing it spoiled the overall score was the icing center... wish they had not filled it, but instead go chocolate all the way

anyhoo, for me a 5/5! for the outside, a 3/5 for the inside

I WANT IT AGAIN!!! can someone buy it for me? please? ^^

Millenium Restaurant - Beribi, near Supasave

Ah the place where their Spagetti Cabonara is magnifique (5/5), but then I order something different off the menu for this review.

After ordering, a complementary bread ^^

Strawberry shake.

Creamy! Yummy! well-blended. Although the apperance is just... that... so 4/5

Cream of mushroom. Never expected this, because usually its all white. But I am impressed by its presentation. The taste? Mmm! Yummy! Me and my family have each tasted it, and we can assume that it is made up of potato, well-blended mushroom with hints of blackpepper. a 5/5!

My main course! The premium Aged Fillet Steak, in which I ordered it medium-rare (personal preferences). With chips at its side, the meat is covered with black-pepper sauce, creating a nice taste and appealing to me. And did you know? Its only $18??? 5/5!

My dad ordered this. A Lamb Cutlet, where he said its a bargain, because usually the restaurants give one-meat length on a bone, where Millenium offer twice the meat on twice the bone.

Actually, I like to go to Millenium ^^ because if your lucky the buffet will be good, but the ala-carte is where I like to go to, because of the Spagetti Cabonara and its meats, at a good price, with quality taste

Good show Millenium! Keep up the good work!

Ps: you may want to ONLY order spagetti cabonara, without any appetizers or deserts, because that alone can fill you up fast (due to the cream and the complementary french bread).

Taurean Cafe - kiulap

Went there yesterday, and I had a nice lunch, very nice ^^

First up!

Its called Virgo I, where they have a promotion off of it for 50%. Made up of peach and grenadine, topped with blended ice...

Stirred and drink... wow, it is good! for me a 5/5

As usual, I am trying to find a good buttermilk toast (like those at My Place Cafe), order the above and *sigh....* ITS GOOD! drools! 5/5!

The finale, the Tauream Chicken Rice. Once I pry open the chicken, steam came out. Tasted and its above average (just dont try to mixed the whole rice with the sauce, because the sauce can be a bit too thick, killing the taste). A 4/5

Salutations to Taurean, eventhough lacking in food menu (drink, however are aplenty) but hey at least you stick to quality at a decent price ^^

Maju Fast food AND Excellent Taste (ET) - centerpoint's food stalls

Introducing a contender from Maju Fast food... KB rojak!

Nice to have a KB rojak, although I have been told the REAL KB rojak is way better (in KB of course, forgotten the name though). But it is lacking in squid and too much in cucumber and pineapples (for me only): 3/5

Tea 'C' Special, or known to some shops as 3-layer tea. Good to drink. Go get it from the nearby bubblezone (4/5 is my rating)

Orange juice from M.F.F. Wow, real blended orange... unfortunately they went overboard with the ice, thus after a few sips and slurps, it suddenly ends... a 4/5 for taste, but 2/5 for quantity-wise (ps: try asking for less ice)

Milo shake (my lil sis drank this). She told me its 3/5, but I beg to differ, I found it to be well blended, milo-ish and has a nice appeal. For me, its a 4/5

Yay! From Excellent Taste... the REAL MEAT KNIFE (not like those from Charcoal)

I have order the mix grill, consists of chicken, lamb and beef meat. At first, kudos for its sizzling presentation. On taste, the lamb is good, the chicken is average... and the beef is a bit overcooked. Also the fries are stuck to the pan. Sauce-wise is average. I would rate this a 3/5
Try asking them to separate the fries, so that it won't get stuck to the plate and get soaked up by the sauce.

Akbar Ria - food review (Kiulap Branch)

Remember this? Akbar Ria Sengkurong

Second chance given, but this time its at kiulap.
First up, Mango Sparkling Juice, made up with fresh fruit puree, ice-cream soda base, and pinch of lemon taste

My verdict... 4/5! Drink is nice, smooth and is a bit fizzy. Would love to order this again

Next up! Italian Murtabak... wait... inda ada =O

ah well, I will have this then... a beef and cheese murtabak

Good food, but where is the cheese? Ah... it is not evenly spread... wait? carrots? onions? leafy vege?... hmm, extra bonus I see... but then again, the beef is just average in taste.

I would give this a 3/5

Hmm... I would like a teh tarik please!

Nice foamy, but only for a while. Not to sweet, and the tea is a bit strong. Anyhoo, a 3/5

Kudo for the Indonesia waiter to give a full, nice smiley attention (compared to the Sengkurong Branch), thus for this good food and ok service, I will visit you again in the future...

... but not sengkurong. Maybe I should give them a second chance... we'll see...

KTM Jerudong - makan katam

Forgot to take the pic of the actual crab, BUT

From here, you can estimate how big the crab was. What I am holding was the big claw with its meat exposed.

Tips of the claw. Be afraid... coz I am count dracula XD

price... well... you might want to ask how much per kilo... i think mine cost $20++ for that crab alone ><

sure thing my aunt was the one paying... ehehehehhe... thank you ^^

My Place Cafe (jerudong branch)

Amongst all the restaurants here in Jerudong, My Place Cafe has become like a regular place for me to take-away food or dine-in.

Why I like this place?
1) They got lots of food to pick from (even has pics for the foods)
2) Drinks also a plenty
3) Reasonable price
4) The quality of the food is way better than the other restaurants here in Jerudong (so far)
5) I want to be both filled (by food) and be satisfied by it (so, nasi katok is not considered, as it is only filling in nature)

Everytime I dine there, I always order something new off the menu, never the same food (except Butter-milk toast) That also include what drinks I ordered.

For take-away, I always order wet Kway Teow Seafood.

Last Sunday I went there, and I order these foods and drink:

Twice I ordered this for the past two trips. It is well worth it as it is HOT buttermilk toast and its thick ^^ (for jerudong only - I heard there are even better ones around bandar/gadong/kiulap... so can anyone suggest me?)

Strawberry umm... pearl shake? forgotten the name. Nice taste, but only 3/5 (not well blended, a bit on the watery side and ice can be felt)

Fragant Hot baked clam - well, 3/5 is my rating. I prefer the spicy one, the one cooked in chilli (order that instead if you happened to be there)

For your info, I ate about 99% of the clams... me alone! me! 2 clams went to my mother and lil sis, so imagine me finishing it all off XD

Yeah, for me, this place is ok (its also a bit isolated, so the place is not that noisy), and will go there again, unless I have the urge to try another restaurant here in Jerudong ^^
