UEA norwich: minor earthquake at 1am 27 feb 2008

Yeah, happened a few minutes ago. I was watching WWE RAW (latest) when all of the sudden i felt vibration as i was lying on the bed. I can see the laptop's screen shaking a bit. But the one i focused the most is my vaseline body lotion (for my foot) as it was standing loosely on top of the cd casing and the bottle is vibrating... a lot.

Fortunately it only lasted around 8-10(?) secs and i just open my window and try to look outside (expecting a big moving truck, or something that made the vibrations). A minute later, mr Y asked me in MSN "arah mu bagagar?" which means at my place, is it shaking? Excitedly i said yes... yeah i have to admit, i never experience earthquake before (living in brunei, way off the earthquake belt) BUT right now I am experiencing it and i cannot imagine (AND I PRAY I DO NOT GO THROUGH IT) how a major earthquake would felt like.

few minutes later, aji called and ask regarding about the earthquake. But for their place (the other side of on campus housing in UEA), he told me they were all outside with security and all

WAITAMINUTE??? ARENT I SUPPOSE TO BE OUTSIDE???? =O

nope, still in the room. But after this, gotta check out the proper procedure in case of similar event happen (which im gonna pray it WONT)

update: hertfordshire(wares) where my sister is currently studying and living also felt the earthquake! *gasps!* she told me her bed went shakey-shakey
update2: called my friend in bruhall, paddington, LONDON and yeah they also felt it.. I even asked her has she experience this for the past 2 years, and she replied this is her first time
update3: and its in the news!

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/7266136.stm
update4: friend in newcastle just told me: no earthquake in her area. interestingly, she wants to experience it ^^"

such a nice day...

it was raining around 11pm and i had class at that time. after class at 12pm, it became less gloomy and by 2pm, it turns into a beautiful sunny day.

Looking through my window, i decided to talk an hour stroll at the nearby fields. Went out and the sunny sunshine greets me. Niceee

Unfortunately, it was windy and cold, but i didnt mind as the scenery looks nice and a bit wet from the rain, plus the beautiful sunshine above me. Wish i had my n95 (still in london) to take and share some pictures with you all ^^

had a test, do this and that, and then this has made my day

man joined a big Multi National Company as a trainee.....

On his first day, he dialled the kitchen and shouted into the phone:
"Get me a cup of coffee, quickly!"

The voice from the other side responded:
"You fool; you've dialed the wrong extension!
Do you know who you're talking to?"

"No" replied the trainee.

"It's the Managing Director of the company, you idiot!"

The trainee shouted back:
"And do you know who YOU are talking to, you IDIOT?"

"No!" replied the Managing Director angrily.

"Thank God!" replied the trainee and put down the Phone

HAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Q: Why must we put on our pants one leg at a time?

Q: Why must we put on our pants one leg at a time?
Ans: If we jumped into our pants simultaneously placing both legs in at one time, we would land heavily on the ground. As a majority of us are getting dressed at the same time of the morning, the cumulative effect would Cause an earth tremor. Due to the use of time zones, the tremor established In Eastern Time would arrive in the central zone at precisely the moment all those people were jumping into their pants. The tremor would increase in size exponentially, and proceed west to combine with the mountain zone folks as they get dressed. As this cycle encircles the globe, it would feed upon the next day's Tremor and eventually cause the earth's crust to break apart and float into space. This is why we put our pants on one leg at a time.

'how poor we are'

One day, the father of a very wealthy family took his son on a trip to the country with the express purpose of showing him how poor people live.

They spent a couple of days and nights on the farm of what would be considered a very poor family.

On their return from their trip, the father asked his son, "How was the trip?"

"It was great, Dad."
"Did you see how poor people live?" the father asked.

"Oh yeah," said the son.
"So, tell me, what did you learn from the trip?" asked the father.

The son answered:
"I saw that we have one dog and they had four.

We have a pool that reaches to the middle of our garden and they have a creek that has no end.

We have imported lanterns in our garden and they have the stars at night.

Our patio reaches to the front yard and they have the whole horizon.

We have a small piece of land to live on and they have fields that go beyond our sight.

We have servants who serve us, but they serve others.
We buy our food, but they grow theirs.

We have walls around our property to protect us, they have friends to protect them."

The boy's father was speechless.

Then his son added, "Thanks Dad for showing me how poor we are."
Isn't perspective a wonderful thing? Makes you wonder what would happen if we all gave thanks for everything we have, instead of worrying about what we don't have.

Appreciate every single thing you have, especially your friends!

Im still waiting for my N95... Success in our hands story

so in the mean time, read this inspiring short story

During a momentous battle, a Japanese general decided to attack even though his army was greatly outnumbered. He was confident they would win, but his men were filled with doubt.

On the way to the battle, they stopped at a religious shrine. After praying with the men, the general took out a coin and said, "I shall now toss this coin. If it is heads, we shall win. If it is tails we shall lose."

"Destiny will now reveal itself."

He threw the coin into the air and all watched intently as it landed. It was heads. The soldiers were so overjoyed and filled with confidence that they vigorously attacked the enemy and were victorious.

After the battle. a lieutenant remarked to the general, "No one can change destiny."

"Quite right," the general replied as he showed the lieutenant the coin, which had heads on both sides.

Success begins with a fellow's will,
Its all in the state of mind,
Life's battle dont always goes
to the stronger & faster man,
But sooner or later the man who wins,
Is the MAN who thinks he can.

Some thing has found us... and it ain't gozilla baby (CLOVERFIELD the movie)

WARGHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!! WARNING! May cause you nausea and giddy and all vomity. Overall, its a good movie BUT withs lots of looseends, like what happen to... and also how... reason... well no spoiler from me ^^

BASICALLY, (from their website) "Five young New Yorkers throw their friend a going-away party th night that a monster the size of a skyscraper descends upon the city. Told from the point of view of their video camera, the film is a document of their attempt to survive the most surreal, horrifying event of their lives."

For me, its a 4/5 thus go go! watch it! but be prepare if you are prone to motion sickness or something.

AFTER the movie, then you could go visit these websites to get more clues and a bit clearer of 'WHAT IN THE WORLD IS GOING ON???"
http://cloverfieldclues.blogspot.com/ - All the clues you could find before the movie starts, including some explaination

http://geeksofdoom.com/2008/01/22/cloverfield-mythos-explored-monsters-marketing-and-millions/ - explaination with spoilers and clues and etc, but not as detail and long as the first link

Will i watch it again? YES! its intense, its action packed at some point, suspens, and makes me wanna puke. Although there are some unexplained plots, i hope the next movie can tie it all up (or have to read the clues given in those website)

Sweeney Todd - never trust a singing barber

"Never forget, never forgive" - Sweeney Todd

Just got back from watching Sweeney Todd, the demon barber from fleet street, and boy after watching it, i am never going to trust a singing barber to shave me (eventhought technically he can give the CLOSEST shave i can get)

Its really a good musical movie, but mind you, there will be blood everywhere and you will flinch the first time he, pardon the pun, shaved it. Kids are not recommended to see this movie.

Simple sypnosis: Exiled barber, for a crime he didn't commit, is back for revenge, on the judge who exiled him. Met with Mrs. Lovett, and they paired up to commit a very gruesome crime. Lets just say when he shaves, she makes lots and lots of pies...

Enjoy the movie, and remember... NEVER trust a singing barber....

rating:5/5

ITS SNOWING IN NORWICH!

FYI! My N95 went back to Brunei (AGAIN) to get its camera function well. Curses you wywy. SO, the following pics were using my friend's nokia i-have-no-absolute-idea-which-series and thus the lower picture quality

AND I WASNT THERE WHEN IT FALLS! *cue Mojo-jojo screaming in anguish* CURSESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

Sigh, at least when I arrived at norwich, the snow was still on the ground, thus... able to touch it

Amongst all the pics, I really like this one ^^

bruhall's food

FYI! My N95 went back to Brunei (AGAIN) to get its camera function well. Curses you wywy. SO, the following pics were using my friend's nokia i-have-no-absolute-idea-which-series and thus the lower picture quality

During my stay at Bruhall, london, here are the foods that i ate:

Breakfast 80pence:
Murtabak kosong (roti kosong for the malaysians)

average tasting food and hey, at least i get to eat a bruneian favourite (which I REALLY MISSED A LOT even since coming to UK)
oh yeah, there is also juices and milk ^^

Breakfast (also 80 pence):
english breakfast? + toast and kaya spread =D

just a simple meal (but the chips is below average, a 2/5) and i get to eat a kaya-spread toast! yummy!

Lunch (1.40 pounds):

Rice+veges+1 piece fried chicken+grapes

ugh... this food only focuses more on the quantity instead of quality

Basically the prices of the food are affordable in bruhall BUT don't expect much on the quality. Hey at least you can get to eat some malay (and repeatitive i heard) food

Added note: i heard the nasi lemak is a hit whenever its served during breakfast. unfortunately i havent had the pleasure to taste it yet
